See below for answers to all your other Frequently Asked Therapy Questions▾
How much do you charge per session?

Up-to-date pricing is always displayed in my online bookings app. You’ll see the exact fee clearly before confirming your appointment. This keeps everything transparent and ensures you always have the most current information, without relying on website updates.

You can also easily reschedule or cancel your appointment directly through the app, provided you give at least 24 hours’ notice.

Do I need a referral to book counselling in Brisbane?

No referral is required. As a private practice, you can book directly without GP appointments, long waitlists, or Medicare red tape. This means you get rapid access to effective counselling when you need it most.

How is your approach different from traditional counselling?

Unlike talk therapy, which often focuses on coping strategies, my style of anxiety therapy and trauma therapy goes deeper — directly into the subconscious and limbic system, where your fight/flight/freeze response is stored. That’s why most clients notice meaningful results within 1–3 sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

Every mind is different. Most people resolve their core issue in 1–3 sessions, while more complex concerns may take up to 6. From session two onwards, each appointment is 60 minutes and includes 2–3 carefully selected therapeutic treatments designed for maximum impact.

Is this suitable therapy for CPTSD / PTSD treatment?

Yes. My work is trauma-informed, safe, and practical. Many clients come to me specifically for PTSD therapy in Brisbane after other treatments haven’t worked. You won’t have to re-live painful memories. My methods are designed to gently resolve trauma while protecting you from retraumatization.

Do you offer online counselling sessions?

Yes. I work with clients across Brisbane, interstate, and internationally via secure online video. Whether you’re booking for anxiety therapy, trauma therapy, or PTSD therapy, you can access the same results-driven process from the comfort of your own home.

Is my information kept confidential?
Yes, your privacy and confidentiality are paramount. My pratice location is very discreet, so you don’t need to worry about ‘being seen’. I adhere to strict ethical guidelines to ensure your information remains secure, working within the confines of QLD government regulations.
What is trauma-informed care, and why is it important?
Trauma-informed care is an approach that recognizes the impact of trauma on individuals’ lives. It creates a safe and empathetic environment where clients can begin their healing journey without retraumatization. This approach is crucial because it ensures a secure space for addressing past traumas effectively.
Can I choose the specific techniques used in my therapy?
Yes, you have the flexibility to choose the techniques you’re most comfortable with. This allows you to actively participate in your recovery without the stress of trying to do anything you’re not comfortable with.
Do you accept Medicare or Private Health rebates?
No — my practice is private pay only. This ensures you receive the highest-quality, personalised treatment without limitations or delays. Many clients find the investment worthwhile because they get results in days, rather than months or years.
Do you accept NDIS or Work Cover?
Yes, however you must provide written consent from your funds manager stating that they are happy to pay your invoices and under which item number. This information must be provided to sarah@sarahbuckle.com.au before your first appointment.
Do you treat international clients?

I’m qualified to work with over 200 issues, but most clients come to me for:

  • Anxiety Therapy — general anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety
  • Trauma Therapy — childhood trauma, adult trauma, complex trauma
  • PTSD Therapy — flashbacks, nightmares, hypervigilance
  • Emotional Regulation — anger, guilt, shame, hurt, depression, grief, heartbreak
  • Relationship Challenges — toxic relationship patterns, betrayal, separation, divorce
  • Behavioural Issues — unhealthy coping mechanisms, self-sabotage
  • Negative Thinking Patterns — looping thoughts, intrusive thoughts, critical inner dialogue
  • Limiting Beliefs — “I’m not good enough,” “I’m too much,” “The world isn’t safe,” “I’m a failure”
  • Low Confidence & Self-Esteem
  • Addictions — patterns that keep you stuck despite your best efforts
  • Negative Self-Image — body dysmorphia, poor body confidence, unhealthy self-criticism
  • Food & Body Relationship Issues — emotional eating, restriction, binge cycles, negative relationships with food

…and more. If it’s keeping you anxious, stuck, or overwhelmed — chances are, I can help you resolve it quickly and safely.

Do you treat international clients?
Yes, I work worldwide via secure online sessions.
Do you use EMDR?
While EMDR can be effective, it often takes many sessions over many months. My approach achieves equal or better results in a fraction of the time.
